Studio Policy

My Responsibilities

With positivity and encouragement, I will teach students a wide variety of musical skills that are most relevant to their instrument and musical goals. Technique, structure, and musicality are very important aspects in my studio, and I strive to make sure each student has a clear practice plan for each lesson, ensuring continued progress between lessons. The curriculum will be individualized to each student in order to achieve their musical aspirations.

Student & Family Responsibilities

Students are expected to be well prepared for each lesson. This includes being on time, having all relevant repertoire and instrument accessories (violin/viola, bow, mutes, etc.) and a pencil. In order to utilize lesson time to the best of our ability, daily practice is required in between lessons. While there is no dress code for lessons, it is encouraged that each student wears comfortable clothing that will not inhibit proper playing, including fingernail length.

Parents and Students: I encourage you to contact me if anything is happening at home, school, etc. that may affect proper performance in lessons so that I can be sensitive towards everyone's needs.

Students will be encouraged to audition for local and international festivals and competitions. These are not requirements of the studio, but highly encouraged as a way to set goals and get connected with various musical communities. If students are interested in a festival, competition, camp, orchestra, school, etc. please let me know so that we can prepare for that audition.

All students must have their own instrument to practice on. Purchasing or renting an instrument are both acceptable, and I can help assist anyone who is interested in purchasing or renting a new instrument and bow.

Tuition and Schedule

Please note that tuition reserves the weekly lesson time slot, but may not directly reflect the amount of lesson received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson time.

This studio operates on a flat rate schedule. Flat monthly tuition rates are based on the number of guaranteed lessons in the calendar year. There will be a minimum of 36 lessons offered throughout the year, with the weeks where lessons are not held (due to holidays or personal performance opportunities) will be communicated in advance. ADD ADDITIONAL LESSON INFO HERE.

Tuition invoices will be sent by the 25th of the month prior for all enrolled students. Invoices will reflect this flare rate, and will also list the lessons scheduled that month for each student.

Payment received after the 1st of the month will result in a $10.00 late fee. Payment received after the 7th of the month will result in an additional $10.00 late fee, and the lesson time for that student may not be reserved for the next month.

Recurring late payments will result in the termination of the students enrollment.

Preferred method of payment is Stripe, which can include GooglePay.

Cancellation Policy

Lessons canceled with under 24 hours notice will not be provided a make-up lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours notice will be credited a make-up lesson for that month.

Each month one day will be offered for make up lessons. This date will be announced at the start of each month via email. If the student is unable to attend a lesson on this designated day the credit may be forfeited.

Make-up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition.

Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible and will be rescheduled within 30 days.

Monthly invoices are based on the number of lessons the studio schedules that month and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.

Music and Materials

Each student is responsible for providing their own copies of technique/method books, as well as assigned repertoire. Music and materials will be assigned by me, and the student will be expected to have these materials no later than two weeks after they are assigned. I will suggest stores and websites to purchase these materials, and as much advance notice as possible will be given.

Commitment

When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-base basis each month before tuition is due.

If the student decides to pause lessons during the course of a semester, tuition for the remainder of the semester still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.

Fall Term - September through December

Spring Term - January through May

Summer Term - June through August

Please note that a student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.

Media

From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or around the studio. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by first name.

Communication

Email has proven to be the best form of communication with students. For last minute emergencies, text messages are also acceptable, but keeping all correspondence on email is preferred. I try to respond to all messages within 24 hours, and if I know that will not be possible ahead of time, all parents and students will be notified.

By enrolling and paying tuition for my child in Jimmy Drancsak’s Studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2020/2021 school year.
